Pastor Bart was born on August 28, 1989 in Western New York to Rev. Donald and Maxine Loos. After high school, Bart attended Binghamton University on scholarship to play soccer and major in History, but within the soccer season, he endured a major spinal injury. During this first year of college, the Holy Spirit tugged at his heart to pursue a pastoral vocation, and so, Bart transferred to Concordia University in Chicago, Illinois where he would continue his major in History but also engage in Pre-Seminary studies and minor in Biblical languages. Between Binghamton and Concordia University, Jesus gave Bart a passion for College Ministry. After graduating from Concordia, Bart decided to volunteer for a year right here at the University Lutheran Chapel at UCLA before attending 4 years of seminary. He moved to Los Angeles during the summer of 2011 and volunteered as a ministry assistant at ULC. In 2012, he enrolled in the Cross-Cultural Ministry Center at Concordia University – Irvine, which is a pastoral formation program that trains and equips pastors who have the heart to do ministry in multi-cultural and culture-crossing settings. He spent four years studying in school earning an MA in Theology and Culture while serving as a student-pastor (also known as a Vicar) at First Lutheran Church of Venice, CA. He met his wife Christaline in his 3rd year of studies. They were married on August 28th, 2016 in Ventura, California.
Christaline Loos grew up in Los Angeles and attended church at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (ORLC) in Winnetka, CA. She now serves as the Bulletin Editor at ORLC while concurrently finishing her degree at UCLA in Anthropology, with a focus in Archaeology. She particularly loves the study of American Indians, both past and present, and allowing history to be one of the best teachers for humanity. Her heart for people, and especially their stories, is a great service to sharing the love of Jesus.
Pastor Bart and Christaline currently reside in the San Fernando Valley and would love to get to know you, if they don’t already!
